Christopher Dammann - Dead Words [CD]

Chicago bassist and composer Christopher Dammann's 'Dead Words' is a collection of spiritual contrafacts tracing a line from bebop through free jazz into the present. Featuring Jim Baker, James Davis, Jon Irabagon, and Mike Reed, the album balances deep swing, open improvisation, and compositional rigor in a bold personal statement rooted in Chicago's creative music tradition.
